Abstract
A plant treatment composition for application of an anionic exogenous chemical substance such as glyphosate to foliage of a plant is provided. The composition comprises, in addition to the exogenous chemical substance, one or more amine compound(s) each having the formula (I) 1 wherein R.sup.1 is a hydrocarbyl group having 6 to about 22 carbon atoms, and R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are independently C.sub.1-5 hydrocarbyl groups. The amine compound(s) of formula (I) are present in the composition in a mole ratio to the exogenous chemical substance of about 0.01:1 to about 2:1. The exogenous chemical substance and amine compound(s) of formula (I) are dissolved or dispersed in an agronomically acceptable liquid carrier, preferably water. Also provided is a solid or liquid concentrate composition which, upon dissolution or dispersion in, or dilution with, water, forms a plant treatment composition of the invention. Plant treatment compositions of the invention are useful for eliciting a biological activity, for example herbicidal activity, in a plant.
