Abstract

A method for representing information auditorially begins by receiving a concept set representing information. That concept set is mapped to a semantic element stored in a memory element. The semantic element is used to select a command identifying a sound to be output. The command is executed to output the identified sound. A related apparatus for representing information auditorially includes a mapping unit and a command execution unit. The mapping unit accepts as input a concept set representing information. The mapping unit outputs a command identifier indicating a command to be executed based on the concept set. The command execution unit accepts the command identifier and executes the identified command. In some embodiments, the apparatus includes a sound player for outputting audio data. in other embodiments the apparatus include a semantic framework design unit for editing the semantic elements. In still another embodiment the apparatus include a sound palette editor for editing the sound definition files in the sound palette.
