Abstract
Disclosed are methods for bioconversion of cellulose in spent sausage casings to a useful end-product. The methods involve treating the cellulose with a cellulase to yield glucose, which in turn is converted to lactic acid, ethanol, enzymes or feed grade protein by a microorganism.
