A method and system for determining a serious intent to purchase a good or service, comprising the steps of: receiving a declaration of intent to purchase a good or service; obtaining a value of a serious intent rating for the buyer entity comprising a number used for estimating the likelihood that the buyer entity will make said purchase; and determining or having determined at least one benefit that is associated with the intended purchase based on the serious intent rating for the buyer entity.
