Abstract
In general, in one aspect, the disclosure describes a method of fulfilling a request for an electronic book having an electronic book digital rights management system. The method includes receiving a request for the electronic book from a network client that includes an electronic book identifier and a retailer identifier. The method also includes determining a digital rights management (DRM) system for the identified electronic book from a set of at least two DRM systems provided by different unaffiliated vendor, and distributing the electronic book to the network client in accordance with the electronic book's electronic book DRM system.
