This invention relates to an ex-corpore method of treating human blood cells incorporating tumour cells particularly in the frame of High-Dose Chemotherapy and/or Total Body Irradiation According to the invention, a) carriers selective for specific tumour cells are conjugated to radionuclides which emit short range alpha particles with high linear energy transfer, forming a radioimmunoconjugate, b) a filtration/separation step is performed on the radioimmunoconjugate ensuring the removal of non-conjugated radionuclides, c) stem cells extracted from said blood and/or bone marrow, extracted from a patient for autologous transplant, are mixed ex-corpore with said conjugated radionuclides, d) after an incubation period a purging of the blood cells and/or bone marrow is performed.
