Abstract
This invention provides extended release potassium chloride granules consisting essentially of potassium chloride crystals having a mesh size of about 20-60 mesh that are coated only with ethylcellulose. The granules may be compressed into tablets that disintegrate rapidly in an aqueous environment to provide uniform dissolution of the potassium chloride. Processes to produce extended release granules without using surfactants, processing aids or other coating aids are also provided by this invention.
