1The invention relates to a method for interacting with a user using an automated dialog system (100). The method may include generating communicative goals (210) based on a first communication received from the user. The generated communicative goals (210) may be related to information needed to be obtained from the user. Based on the generated communicative goals (210) one or more sentences may be automatically planned (220) to achieve at least a portion of the communicative goals (210). Then, at least one of the planned sentences (220) may be output to the user.
