A system and method for providing multiple units of measurement for administering medication in a patient care system. The system and method coordinate the use of the plurality of medication units of measure throughout the patient care system. The system may be implemented as a computer program including logic for: displaying a plurality of medication units of measure that are commonly used by subsystems of the patient care system and logic for equating the plurality of medication units of measure.
