Abstract
Phosphor from the class of the thiometallates, preferably of the thiogallates, the thiometallate being made up so as to correspond to the formula (AS).w(B.sub.2S.sub.3), where A is at least one divalent cation selected from the group consisting of Ba individually or in combination with Mg and/or Ca, and where B is at least one trivalent cation selected from the group consisting of Al, Ga, Y, where the factor w may lie either in the range 0.8.ltoreq.w.ltoreq.0.98 or in the range 1.02.ltoreq.w.ltoreq.1.2.
