Abstract
Provided herein are devices and methods for altering a tissue in an individual. The device comprises an applicator having a surface to contact the tissue, a means to drive the applicator and, optionally, an abrasive material. The devices can further comprise a means to monitor a physical property, such as an electrical property, of the tissue with feedback control. The devices and methods may be used to partially or completely ablate the skin or other tissue in an individual for the purpose of enhancing the delivery of a therapeutic or diagnostic material or molecule or to improve cosmesis.
