Solar modules, with the properties of laminated safety glass, comprising a laminate containing a) a glass pane b) at least one solar cell unit that is located between two PVB-based films, and c) a rear covering and at least one of the PVB-based films has a tensile strength of at least 16 N/mm.sup.2, are suitable for use as a facade component, roof surface, winter garden covering, soundproofing wall, or as a component of windows.
