Abstract
A fuel injector provided with an injection jet, an injection valve, which valve comprises a mobile plunger to control the flow of fuel through the injection jet, and an actuator, which is capable of displacing the plunger between a closed position and an open position of the injection valve; the plunger comprises an elongate rod mechanically connected to the actuator and a sealing head capable of engaging in sealing manner with a valve seat of the injection valve; the rod of the plunger is of high flexibility and exhibits a flexibility parameter of between 1 and 2 N/mm.sup.2.
