Abstract
A method for the preparation of 1,2,2,2-tetrafluoroethyl difluoromethyl ether (CF.sub.3CHFOCHF.sub.2, Desflurane) is provided, which comprises reacting CF.sub.3CHClOCHF.sub.2 (isoflurane) and hydrogen fluoride in the presence of antimony pentafluoride such that desflurane is formed.
