Abstract
A cutting element having a first upper surface (20) and at least one lateral surface (23), whereby the lateral surface and the first upper surface meet in an edge area (24). At least one cutting edge (11 to 14) is formed on the edge area. Each cutting edge is, in essence, convexly curved with regard to a rotation axis (A) extending through the cutting element. The curvature of each cutting edge increases in a strictly monotonous manner in a predetermined direction of rotation (D) about the rotation axis.
