Abstract

A disc brake having a support member that is secured to a vehicle with first and second bores that are perpendicular to a rotor and a caliper with an actuation section having a piston for applying an actuation force to move friction members into engagement with the rotor. A first guide pin, affixed to the caliper having a first bearing surface and a second guide pin, affixed to the caliper having a second bearing surface that respectively engage the first bore and second bore in a plane along the center of gravity of the caliper. The center of gravity of the caliper is sustained by compensating for any change in a relationship of a piston and an actuation chamber by adding additional fluid to the actuation chamber on movement of the piston out of the actuation chamber such that an actuation force is always perpendicularly applied to the rotor.
