A battery containing a first electrode and a second electrode, and an electrolyte for transferring ionic charge-carriers there between, wherein the first electrode contains a first electrode active material represented by the formula A.sup.2.sub.eM.sup.4.sub.kM.sup.5.sub.mM.sup.6.sub.nM.sup.7.sub.oO.sub.g, and at least one second electrode active material selected from the group consisting of active materials represented by the formula A.sup.1.sub.aM.sup.1.sub.b(XY.sub.4).sub.cZ.sub.d, active materials represented by the formula A.sup.3.sub.hMn.sub.iO.sub.4, and mixtures thereof.
