Abstract
Hydrophilic lens materials having a good combination of high refractive index and mechanical properties. The materials are clear and allow for use in increasingly narrow injectors in intraocular lens applications. A monomer based on a methacrylamide comprising a spacer and an aromatic group can be used to increase the refractive index. The mechanical properties are generally comparable with existing materials, and the optical properties are improved.
