Abstract
A method of removing nano-sized pathogens from a liquid that includes providing a filter and contacting the filter with a liquid to remove nano-sized pathogens from the liquid. The filter includes a housing and a filter core disposed within the housing. The filter core comprises activated carbon particles, excluding sodium hydroxide treated activated carbon particles, wherein the activated carbon particles have an interparticle spacing wherein the filter has a Pathogen Removal Index (PRI) of at least about 99.99%.
