A portable media storage/playback device ('PMSPD') is disclosed comprising a body, a screen, a horizontal touchpad, and a vertical touchpad. The PMSPD may also include test preparation software, soft-keys, a dictionary, a smart algorithm, a headphone jack, speakers, an encyclopedia, a program for playing audio files, a program for viewing picture files, a camera, a program for recognizing words in a picture, a communication interface, and/or a wireless communication device. The PMSPD may also be limited in size to increase portability while maintaining usability.
