Abstract
laser and an electrically operated tuning element to enable rapid switching of emission wavelength. The use of the source in conjunction with frequency converters, in particular optical parametric oscillators, permits covering a wider spectral range. In such cases the frequency converter output wavelength can be rapidly tuned by electrically tuning the laser. The laser source has uses in many applications of practical interest and is particularly well suited as the transmitter in remote sensing system or as a source in directed energy systems.
