An electronic tag system includes a medical device having a base portion, a removable portion, and an electronic tag operatively connected to the removable portion. The electronic tag includes data related to at least a medicinal infusion process. The system further includes a control element operatively connected to the base portion. The control element includes a reading capability for reading the data from the electronic tag and a writing capability for writing new data to the electronic tag.
