This invention relates to an aircraft viewing system comprising: a plurality of generation devices (330.sub.1, . . . , 330.sub.k; 730.sub.1, . . . , 730.sub.k; 830.sub.1, . . . , 830.sub.k) adapted to generate video flows from aircraft data; a plurality of display units (310.sub.1, . . . , 310.sub.n; 710.sub.1, . . . , 710.sub.n; 810.sub.1, . . . , 810.sub.n), wherein each display unit is adapted to display an intrinsic display function as well as a video image representing at least one video input; at least one video distribution unit (320.sub.1, . . . , 320.sub.p; 720.sub.1, . . . , 720.sub.p; 820.sub.1, . . . , 820.sub.p) adapted to switch the video flows generated by said generation devices to the video inputs of said display units.
