Abstract
A method for entering information through a keyboard of a stenographic machine includes the steps of entering a first stenographic character by transitioning a key in a first set of keys from a first rest position to a fully depressed position at a given distance away from a first upper surface in a key-depressing direction, transitioning at least one key in a second set of keys from a second rest position to a second depressed position, the second rest position being further from the first rest position in the key-depressing direction than the given distance, and, while the at least one key in the second set of keys is in the second depressed position, entering at least a portion of a second stenographic character different from the first stenographic character by transitioning the at least one key in the first set of keys from the first rest position to a depressed position.
