Abstract
The invention provides a financial management system for use in managing a bank account, wherein the bank account is sub-divided into at least two credit containers, each credit container corresponding to a category associated with an activity relating to funds available in said account, wherein each said category is predetermined such that a uniform set of credit containers apply to all customers having a said bank account. According to the invention, a plurality of credit containers, or pots, is associated with a given account; since these pots are predetermined and specified by, e.g. the provider of the bank account, the functionality and services associated with a given account, in terms of transferring funds between credit containers, can be standardised for a given customer base and require less user intervention than do known financial management systems.
