Abstract
A gaming system, a gaming machine and a method is provided in which the player plays a primary game or a base game on a gaming device. During the play of the primary game or the base game, the player accrues player points based on the amount of coin in or credits wagered or based on the amount of credits won. A player is allowed to use the accumulated player points either as part of a video poker game or a slot machine game or in a special bonus game. The gaming machine or an associated server would keep track of the total amount of player points that are won or lost.
