A method of sterilizing a closed environment is provided in which an ozone generator is placed into the closed environment; it then generates ozone to a predetermined ozone concentration and increases the humidity of the closed environment. The ozone concentration is maintained at the predetermined ozone concentration for a predetermined period of time, and after the period of time has expired, the ozone is depleted.
