Abstract

An organic light emitting diode (OLED) (100) for light-induced patterning is presented. The OLED comprises a buckling-reducing layer (150) connected to a cathode layer (140) at a side of the cathode layer facing away from a light emitting layer (130). The buckling reducing layer is configured for improving a resistance to buckling resulting from local heating of the cathode, which heat may be caused by patterning the OLED. The buckling reducing layer improves mechanical properties, e.g., stiffness, and/or thermal properties, e.g. through cooling, of the cathode.
