An irrigating twin-cannula aspiration system including a hand-supportable tissue aspiration instrument, having a twin cannula assembly, wherein an inner cannula having an aspiration aperture is mechanically reciprocated within a stationary outer cannula having an elongated aperture along which the aspiration aperture reciprocates, while the inner cannula is operably affixed to a vacuum source, and a controller controls synchronized pulsed tumescent infusion about the aspiration aperture during system operation.
