Abstract

A process for printing a web substrate in contacting engagement with an external surface of a central roll of a contact printing system is disclosed. The process comprises the steps of: a) providing the central roll with a plurality of cells disposed upon an outer surface thereof; b) providing a first fluid satisfying a first system of equations to a first of the cells from a position internal to the central roll; c) providing a second fluid satisfying a second system of equations to a second of the cells from a position internal to the central roll; d) contactingly engaging the web substrate with the external surface of said central roll and, e) fluidically displacing the first and second fluids from the first and second cells onto the web substrate.
