Abstract

An electroactive material, in the form of a self-supported layer, comprising: a matrix, which maintains the mechanical strength of the electroactive material; and an electroactive system, which is inserted in the matrix and comprises an electroactive organic compound (ea₁⁺), an electroactive organic compound (ea₂), a solubilization liquid (L), and ionic charges present as ionic salt or acid, wherein the electroactive compounds (ea₁⁺ & ea₂) and the ionic charges are in the solubilization liquid (L), wherein the matrix comprises a textile sheet (TS) or on a stack of sheets comprising the textile sheet (TS), and wherein the mineral fibers of the matrix and the solubilization liquid (L) have indices that are substantially equal, with a difference of at most 0.1. In addition, an electrically controllable device having variable optical properties, comprising the electroactive material.
