Abstract

The invention is provided to improve the cooling efficiency for cooling a throw away tip regardless of whether a tip holder is rotating. A throw away type rotary cutting apparatus comprises a throw away tip having a cutting edge formed thereon, a tip holder having a support section that holds the throw away tip, a drive unit that supports and rotates the tip holder, and a mounting table that can move relative to the axis of rotation of the tip holder, wherein the tip holder further comprises an inlet path that is formed in the position of the axis of rotation and through which coolant is introduced, a heat exchange section that performs heat exchange between the introduced coolant and the throw away tip, and a discharge path that discharges the coolant after heat exchange. Cooling efficiency is improved by cooling the throw away tip from mainly the inside of the tip holder.
