Abstract

To provide a stapler for fastening even a large number of sheets of paper whether used as a desktop or hand-held stapler, there is provided a stapler having above a base portion a clincher portion where sheets of paper are placed and a housing portion including a magazine portion accommodating staples and a driving blade driving out the staples, including within the base portion a desk resting lever actuated when the base portion is placed on a desk, a plate which slides when the desk resting lever is actuated and a slider receiver, wherein with the base portion placed on the desk, the desk resting lever is actuated, causing the plate to slide to thereby cause the slider receiver integral with the plate to move slightly, so that the movement towards the base portion of the clincher portion operating in association with rotation of the handle portion is delayed.
