Abstract
According to one embodiment, a magnetic disk, a semiconductor memory, and a controller are installed. In the magnetic disk, writing is performed in units of band which is a collection of a plurality of adjacent tracks. The semiconductor memory caches data written in the magnetic disk. The controller manages the data cached in the semiconductor memory in units of capacity which is smaller than capacity of the band.
