According to one embodiment, in a first mode, an electronic device displays a handwritten stroke on a screen, based on events which are input from a first sensor in accordance with a movement of a first object on the screen, and executes a first process corresponding to a gesture operation of a second object on the screen, based on events which are input from a second sensor in accordance with a movement of the second object on the screen. In a second mode, the device displays a handwritten stroke on the screen, based on events which are input from the second sensor in accordance with a movement of the second object on the screen. The device switches the input mode to the first mode, in response to a first event from the first sensor in the second mode.
