Abstract
A method and an apparatus for skiving a work piece that has a rotationally-symmetric, periodic structure by applying a skiving tool. During skiving, a coupled relative movement of the skiving tool in relation to the work piece is performed. The skiving tool is rotated about a first rotation axis and the work piece is rotated about a second rotation axis. A tilt angle is set during skiving, which has an absolute value that is greater than 15 degrees, and the first rotation axis runs skew with respect to the second rotation axis.
