Abstract
A source virtual machine (VM) executing on a source host is migrated to a destination host using a shared storage system connected to both hosts. The source VM memory is iteratively copied to a memory file stored on the shared storage system and locked by the source host. When the destination host is able to lock the memory file, memory pages from the memory file are copied into VM memory of a destination VM, and access to virtual machine disk files are transferred to the destination host.
