Abstract

A banknote validator integrated into an automated machine having a personal identification data collection apparatus and method integrated therein. The system utilizes the banknote image acquisition device, a separate image acquisition device, a computer readable data storage reader and/or an external personal identification data acquisition member for obtaining information from a personal identification reference, such as a state identification card. The system can utilize the personal identification data to determine if the individual is authorized to or restriction from use of the automated machine, provide security to operation of the machine, and create and utilize a relationship between the individual associated with the personal identification and other cards (such as financial cards, facility related cards, etc.) for use in a transaction.
