Abstract
An object of the present invention is to provide an electrode material and a carbon material used in an electrode material that enable an electrochemical element to be obtained with high electrostatic capacitance. The carbon material according to the present invention is a carbon material that has a specific surface area of 750 to 3000 m2/g, has a methylene blue adsorption performance of 150 mL/g or more, and has at least three peaks in a range 1250 to 1700 cm−1 in a spectrum obtained by laser Raman spectroscopy with an excitation wavelength of 532 nm.
