Abstract

The disclosure provides for a bone implant for replacing at least a portion of a bone of a patient. The bone implant includes a support structure being a non-antigenic porous natural collagen matrix configured to receive cells, the support structure formed by removing tissue and cells from a bone obtained from a body leaving only the non-antigenic collagen matrix, the support structure having a configuration corresponding to the configuration of the bone to be replaced, the support structure having a plurality of passages through which blood may flow. The bone implant also includes viable multipotent stem cells harvested from the patient and deposited into the pores of the matrix of the support structure, wherein the support structure is configured for attachment of different types of viable cells.
