Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a wireless terminal includes a short range wireless transceiver configured to respond to an association request from a network device to associate with the network device. A processor is configured to respond to the association of the short range wireless transceiver with the network device by automatically sending the configuration data to the network device via the short range wireless transceiver to configure the network device for operation via a network; and transmitting confirmation data to a configuration server via a network interface in response to determining that the network device is successfully configured for operation via the network.
