Abstract

An applicator may comprise a housing, a shaft, and a biasing member. The shaft may be capable of telescoping movement within the housing between first and second positions. The biasing member may be disposed between the shaft and the housing and may exhibit a first length and a first force at the first position, and a second length and a second force at the second position. The applicator may be part of a membrane applicator system, which may further comprise a fixture, a membrane, a frame, and a suction device. The applicator may be configured to uniformly apply the membrane with the second force into coupling engagement over an aperture in the fixture. The suction device may be coupled to an outlet of the shaft and may cause fluid flow between an inlet of the shaft and the outlet to maintain the membrane in a coupling engagement with the applicator.
