Abstract

To allow simple creation of three-dimensional documentation for a utility article (1) made up of multiple parts (T), image parameters (BP) of at least one illustration (A) of the utility article (1) in existing two-dimensional documentation (2) are ascertained, a 3D model (M) of the utility article (1) with the ascertained image parameters (BP) is aligned with the illustration (A), and, based on a comparison of the two-dimensional illustration (A) and of the 3D model (M) to the ascertained image parameters (BP) from the two-dimensional illustration (A), additional information is obtained, which together with the 3D model (M) forms the three-dimensional documentation (10) of the utility article (1).
