Abstract
To provide a reading apparatus capable of obtaining a high-quality image of an object while avoiding complication and increase in size of the whole apparatus, a reading apparatus 1 according to the present invention includes: a placement table including a placement surface 3 on which to place an object; an imaging optical system 12 that condenses a light flux from the object; and an image pickup element 5 that receives the light flux from the imaging optical system 12. At least part of an enlargement-side conjugate plane 6 of the imaging optical system 12 is not parallel to the placement surface 3 and is present on a reduction side with respect to the placement surface.
