Provided is a rotary cutting unit including (i) a frame, (ii) a rotary cutter including a rotary cutting drum having a rotary cutting surface with a first axis of rotation. At least one knife member is anchored on the rotary cutting surface. The rotary cutting unit further includes (iii) an anvil including an anvil portion having an anvil surface configured to directly contact the at least one knife member with a second axis of rotation.
