Abstract

The disclosure relates to compositions and methods of use for plant protection against pests and pathogens comprising applying an effective amount of a jasmonate, or a composition comprising at least one jasmonate. In some instances, the protection is prophylactic, and inhibits, prevents and/or repels insects and other pests from contacting plants and/or feeding on plants, thereby deterring plant damage and transmission of plant pathogens. In some embodiments, the methods and compositions are a treatment for a pest infestation. In some embodiments, the methods and compositions prevent or treat a pathogen. In some embodiments, the jasmonate or composition comprising at least one jasmonate is applied in conjunction with a soil inoculate of beneficial root microorganisms.
