An automated cable preparation device including a carriage assembly, a mechanical splice installation tool, a cable shell installation apparatus, a sealant injection tool, and a processor is provided. The mechanical splice installation tool includes a splice actuator. The mechanical splice installation tool is coupled to the carriage assembly. The cable shell installation apparatus includes a cable shell actuator. The cable shell installation apparatus is coupled to the carriage assembly. The sealant injection tool is coupled to the carriage assembly. The processor is in communication with the splice actuator, the cable shell actuator, and the sealant injection tool. The processor is configured to selectively control the mechanical splice installation tool, the cable shell installation apparatus, and the sealant injection tool.
