Abstract

The instant disclosure is drawn to methods for reducing frizz and increasing smoothness of hair. The methods comprise applying a hair treatment composition to hair in need of reduced frizz or increased smoothness, the composition comprising: (a) from about 5% to about 50% by weight of at least one acyclic carbonate ester having a plurality of C6-C18 fatty chains; and (b) a liquid vehicle. The hair is subsequently subjected to a heat treatment, wherein the heat treatment heats the hair to a temperature of at least 150° C. The methods generally result in hair having improved attributes including one or more of hair fiber alignment, reduced frizz, and smoothness.
