Abstract

A metal-organic coordination compound that comprises one divalent Europium ion and a macrocyclic organic ligand, further comprising in the coordination compound at least one borane cluster anion (selected from (3-1) to (3-3)), or at least one borate cluster anion formed from two borate cluster fragments (selected from (3-4) to (3-8)), which are covalently linked with each other at the dashed line, preferably via a linear C1-15-alkylene spacer or —O—C_1-15-alkyleneoxy spacer, with carborate groups (3-4)-(3-8) connected to the —O— substituted side of the spacers, or with the macrocyclic organic ligand being singly or twofold negatively charged by means of covalent attachment of one to two borate cluster fragments (selected from (3-4) or (3-8)) and wherein the macrocyclic organic ligand can be covalently attached to the polymer backbone of a polymer with a molecular weight M_n above 1000 g/mol.
