Abstract

An articulated railway truck assembly is provided with a pair of side frames, a transverse center support structure and a pair of wheelset swiveling assemblies. An inward portion of each of the wheelset swiveling assemblies is supported by either the side frames or the center support structure, permitting both substantially universal pivotal movement of the respective wheelset swiveling assembly and lateral movement of the respective inward portion thereof relative to the center support structure. The wheelset swiveling assemblies are resiliently interconnected by a pivot point type connection near the center of the truck for pivoting each wheelset swiveling assembly against the other within the truck framework. Each wheelset swiveling assembly extends beneath respective adjacent ends of the side frames of the truck assembly, and resilient support connectors are disposed between and joined to the adjacent portions of each wheelset swiveling assembly and side frame for permitting a horizontal swiveling movement of each wheelset swiveling assembly relative to the truck frame by resilient deformation of the connectors, whereby the connectors provide restoring forces for returning the wheelset swiveling assemblies to the 'square' position.
